FAQ & DELIVERY

I design, sketch, bake and decorate each cake, and this is the reason I take a limited number of commissions each year. I recommend you to get in touch as soon as you have your event date and venue confirmed.

I offer a tasting appointment for wedding cakes for a maximum of two people, preferably the engaged couple. Consultations are held at a central London venue with a date and time agreed in advance with me. At this appointment you will be able to sample up to three flavours of cake with filling. This appointment is charged at £25 (non-refundable) to cover the cost of the sample cakes, which will be deducted from the cost of your cake on ordering.

Each cake is quoted on an individual basis and it just wont be possible for me to give you an exact figure here. The final price will depend on the number of servings and the complexity of the cake design. As a guide three tier cakes start at £550.

Absolutely! Although I usually recommend to limit the flavours to three. This way you get to incorporate your personal favourite.

Fake tiers are useful if you want a really large cake but have a modest guest list. The real cost of a wedding cake is in the time that takes to decorate it. There is a whole lot of work and time invovled in designing and planning your wedding cake before I even start baking it and this is the reason why cakes are priced individually, and although fake tiers might not reduce the cost of your wedding cake they are great at adding height to a small cake looking for the wow factor.

Aside from wedding cakes, I also create hand painted cookies which are perfect as gifts and can also be individually boxed to give as wedding favours to your guests.

Should you wish to make any changes to the cake design, these should be made no later than 30 days prior to the event date. Any changes must be confirmed in writing or via email. Please note that this may affect the balance due and will be adjusted accordingly.

Wedding cakes should ideally be consumed within 5 days of delivery. Please note that sponge cakes need to be eaten as soon as possible as once cut they will begin to dry out when in contact with air.

I advise that all cakes should be stored in the box provided in a cool room where they will not be moved or knocked over. Cakes covered in sugar paste and sugarflowers should not be refrigerated. Please avoid displaying your cakes in direct sunlight, under spotlights or near candles.

Of course! Your cake will be suitably protected for its journey before being delivered to you. Delivery and set-up of your wedding cake within central London is charged at a flat fee of £60 and is dependant on availability. Deliveries outside central London will be charged based on distance from my premises in East London.

Once delivered the person in charge will need to sign the delivery note to say the cake arrived in perfect condition. Lemon Tree Cakes accepts no liability for any damages to the cake thereafter.

Weather or unexpected events may on occassion make your venue inaccessible. Please be assured I will always do my best to deliver as pre-arranged. If delivery is attempted and I am unable to set-up the cake at the venue, (for example the venue is not ready) I will leave the cake with the banquetting team.

At present I do not hire out cake stands, as most venues are able to provide these. I recommend you liaise with your venue regarding hiring of cake stands.

As everything I make is made to order and perishable, I cannot accept any returns.

In the unlikely event where a customer is unavailable to take delivery, Royal Mail may deliver the package to a neighbour under the "Leave with Neighbour" policy and should leave a card to say where the parcel has been left. This is at the driver's discretion and does not always happen. If a card has been left, it should list the details of the local sorting office which the customer can get in touch with to arrange re-delivery. If the delivery subsequently fails or the customer refuses to take delivery then the goods will be returend to Lemon Tree Cakes. Any new delivery charges incurred due to such an error will be passed on to the customer.

Please ensure you enter the correct and complete address and postcode when placing an order. If you are unsure, try the Post Office address finder. Lemon Tree Cakes will not be held responsible for late, failed or missed deliveries due to incorrect address.

To confirm your wedding cake order, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is required. The final balance is due 30 days prior to the event date. You will receive an invoice for the remainder. Once the balance has been paid, work will start on your cake. Failure to complete payment 30 days prior to the event date may result in your cake order being cancelled.

Payments can be made by cash or bank transfer. Alternatively you can also reserve your date with a £100 non-refundable holding deposit and decide on your design at a later date.

Your cake booking is reserved solely for you and certain components for your cake may be ordered months in advance. If for any reason you cancel your wedding cake order less than 30 days prior to the event, no refund will be issued. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Orders paid in full and cancelled with more than 30 days notice will receive a partial refund of 50% of the total amount paid. Cancellations must be made in writing. In the unlikely event that I have to cancel your wedding cake order for any reason, a full refund will be issued.

Cookies are made to order. As soon as you place an order it gets booked in straight away into my schedule. If you have placed an order for cookies and would like to cancel it, please get in touch within 1 hour of ordering to cancel it. No cancellations will be accepted after this time and your card will be charged for the payment.

On the very rare occassion that your order has arrived damaged or fails to arrive due to unforseen delivery issues, please get in touch immediately so that we can discuss an appropriate resolution. Lemon Tree Cakes will not offer both a refund and resend. If an order has arrived damaged, you will be asked to provide photographic evidence showing the problem.

Each cookie is individually hand painted and therefore there may be a slight variation in the design.

Cookie Ingredients :

Wheat Flour, Butter (Milk), Sugar, Egg, Vanilla Extract.

Fondant ingredients: sugar, glucose syrup, palm oil, humectant: E422, emulsifier: E471, Stabiliser: E413, preservative: E202, flavouring, edible food colours.

Allergen advice. For allergens, including cereals containing gluten, see ingredients in bold.

NOTE : I use vodka to mix my edbile colours with. I need to use a liquid with a very high rate of evaporation and Vodka fits the bill as it evaporates completely, does not have any residual flavour and it's clear.

All cakes and cookies are made with or may contain gluten, wheat, dairy and eggs and are made in an enviornment that handles nuts, soya and alcohol. Although some of the flavours do not contain nut as an ingredient, I cannot guarantee that cakes and cookies will not contain trace amounts of these ingredients.
